It used to be that once you got to the point where wearing a bikini left you with a sense of embarrassment, there wasn’t much you could do about it. Or perhaps you thought you’d never feel confident enough to wear one outside. Banish these thoughts forever. By choosing breast augmentation, liposuction or a tummy tuck, your bikini will be the first thing you pack to go to the lake this summer.
- Breast augmentation – More women of all ages have decided to augment their breasts. As time goes on, these numbers are only likely to increase. By choosing breast augmentation, more women are walking around feeling better about the way they look in all seasons.
Because summer is the time to either pull out that old swimsuit or buy a new one, feeling good about wearing it is going to be on your mind. If you are uncomfortable about your breast size, breast augmentation might be the procedure for you.
Both silicone gel and saline implants are available for breast augmentation. Depending on the size and shape you want, Dr. Placik will make sure that you are happy with your new look. He will also help you understand the variety of issues that you should know when thinking about this procedure.
Liposuction – Even though you go to the gym, there might be one or two areas on your body that don’t seem to respond as well as you’d like them to. If areas of the thigh, buttocks, upper arms, belly, or chin are acting stubborn, maybe liposuction can help remove these pockets of fat.
Because fat collects in regions of the knees, hips, buttocks and outer thighs, as well as the waist and flank area, and the lower abdomen, these areas are most likely to need liposuction. Further areas of concern are the front and back of the upper legs, face and neck. Removing this fat through liposuction is a perfect solution to help get these parts of your body ready for bikini weather.
Liposuction is the most popular cosmetic procedure performed today. While it is not a way to simply reduce weight, and will not work on cellulite, the results are permanent. However, lack of exercise and overeating can result in weight gain.
While small areas can be treated in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia, extensive liposuction is performed under a general anesthetic on either an outpatient or inpatient basis. After your liposuction, you will have to wear snug elastic garments that compress the areas treated for up to three weeks. In ten to 14 days, you will be back to your normal activities.
An initial consultation with Dr. Placik will help to determine how liposuction will work with your particular needs.
- Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) – You’ll be showing off your abdomen in your bikini, so you’re going to want this area to look as good as possible. Because of this, you might want to consider getting a tummy tuck.
An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is for those who have excess or loose skin in the area of the abdomen. Muscle tone and skin elasticity is important in determining if you are a candidate for this procedure.
Abdominoplasty involves removing excess skin and fatty tissues after an incision has been made from one hip to the other across the pubic area. The skin is then redraped across the area where skin and fat were removed. If Dr. Placik detects any muscular defects, these can often be corrected at the same time.
Abdominoplasty scars will fade over time to the point they may not even be apparent. Restraining from exercise or other strenuous activity for up to six weeks and wearing a support garment for up to three weeks is generally recommended. Potential complications with abdominoplasty will be discussed when you consult with Dr. Placik.
Dr. Placik was the first cosmetic surgeon to use the No Knot Quill Suture in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. You can read more about this technique at: http://www.angioedupro.com/?gclid=CN6Zl4W805ECFRATIgodNBlmaw
