The LaceLift™ is a new, quick and minimally invasive, non-surgical filling and tightening procedure carried out entirely under local anesthesia, using supplies cleared by the FDA. Downtime is minimal with only slight activity restrictions. Results are accomplished with specialized absorbable filaments that come in a variety of different shapes (straight, spiral or barbed), sizes, and lengths. They are composed of polydioxanone (or PDO), an absorbable material, commonly used in surgical sutures. Dr. Placik is among the first plastic surgeons to be trained in this technology and introduce this to the Chicago area. Their unique design avoids the need for incisions and scars. They are purposely interleaved and woven in a lace-like pattern to create a lattice for loose wrinkled skin and achieve subtle fullness or utilized to engage and lift sagging tissues. While the filaments are completely metabolized within 4-6 months, they stimulate collagen formation with results that can last from 6-18 months. This is the ultimate lunchtime lift and is a wonderful addition to botulinum toxin.

The best results are seen around the neck and jawline but the technique can achieve gentle lifting of the forehead and cheeks as well as filling of facial fine lines and creases. The filaments have a broad range of calibers and thicknesses permitting one to treat delicate facial zones while new approaches are being developed for more progressive treatment of the body: arms, breast, abdomen, buttocks, knees and thighs.
Whenever mild lines are wrinkles appear in and around the face. This is excellent and indicated for early skin laxity of the face, neck and body. It is best used in areas without preexisting scars and with moderate skin thickness.

This is ideal for those individuals, with mild to moderate laxity, who are not ready or can’t set aside time for the recovery of a surgical procedure. It requires minimal downtime and aftercare is practically zero other than avoiding excessive manipulation of the treatment area for 7-10 days. It achieves correction of the lower face and neck which cannot be typically addressed with fillers, botulinum toxin and other non-surgical treatments. The variety of filaments permits the treating physician to target and isolate problem areas. This is performed in one sitting with instant results and can actually lift and reposition the sagging skin whereas other interventions may accomplish only tightening over a period of months and often require multiple sessions.
This is considered an office procedure. Following a small local injection, to make the procedure nearly painless, the filaments are placed using a cannula (fine metal tube) that can be inserted via a pinhole created with a hypodermic needle. The spiral or straight filaments can be strategically arranged in a lace-like pattern to provide filling and support whereas the barbed versions are placed to achieve an instant and desired pulling, lifting and repositioning of the skin.
