Chicago Reconstructive Otoplasty – Ear Surgery Chicago
As children, we begin to notice what makes us different from others. Children who’s ears stick out from the sides of their head or who’s ears are misshaped are often the subject of teasing and may suffer with self esteem issues as a result. If untreated as a child, many adults, particularly women, opt for hair styles that allow them to cover their ears. Using Reconstructive Otoplasty, Dr. Otto Placik is able to improve the appearance of the ears.
Reconstructive Otoplasty or ear surgery is a surgical procedure in which Dr. Placik makes small incisions behind the ears to reposition them closer to the side of the head or alter their appearance. This procedure can be performed on children, teens or adults. Due to the location of the incisions there is very little if any visible scarring. The length of the procedure varies on the severity of the ears being corrected but generally lasts anywhere between 1 1/2 and 3 hours.
